THE ADIRONDACKS’ DEMOGRAPHICS CHALLENGE
Why should we focus on attracting a new generation of residents? This presentation, by Joe Short of the Northern Forest Center, will frame this question. Joe will draw on data from several regional analyses to provide context and motivation to our work together in this year’s forum.

A WELCOMING PLACE
Since 2007, Adirondack Common Ground Alliance has been bringing hundreds of people together who love the Adirondacks to tackle difficult issues and find common ground.

Many of us think of the Adirondacks as a welcoming place. However, recent events have highlighted that there is much work to be done to ensure our communities are truly welcoming and safe for everyone. We have asked CGA Core Team member Ross Whaley to facilitate a conversation with Nicky Hylton-Patterson, Director of the Adirondack Diversity Initiative and Bill Farber, Chairman of Hamilton County Board of Supervisors and CGA Core Team member to discuss ways in which diversity and ensuring that our communities are welcoming are inextricably linked.

CGA hopes this can be the beginning of thoughtful and honest conversation about how everyone can make the Adirondacks a welcoming place.
